Fine Fettered Symphony

The earth’s vegetation stretches out, its limbs creaking and croaking in a silent chorus.
Megolithic reactors churn the body of the planet.
Electricity courses through the veins.
Furnaces are feasting, embers are aglow.
Cars blaze along wild stretches, beams outstretched.
Hoards immolate their lust at night in clubs, plumes out, bodies enmeshed.
Suits politic and strategise their way through the tangle, hessians and hemps dance their spells in stone circles.
Desire, desire, coursing, lusting, impulsing, untameable, burning fiercely.
Where’s it headed?
Hurricanes howl, tsunamis tear, earthquakes shatter.
Tower blocks glow at night.
The smells of cooking, families together, housemates in their arrangements.
Suppers, foods, chitter, silence, chatter.
Sirens pierce and wail through the city lights, blue hues pulse in their trail.
Trains chug, lorries careen, bicycles spin.
Pistons in commotion, motion with no notion.
Webs of light cover the planet, metal dishes hover around, beaming back and forth.
Information in formation, downloading, uploading, overloading.
Owls twoot, foxes screech, deer rut, rats scurry, insects chirp.
Rockets launched, a colony on a foreign rock?
What a world of dreams, delights and horrors.
Steaming dumplings from a dimly lit hut, elegant fine dining on a floating bistro.
Pulled from our sleep, back again; this mad wondrous realm.
Skin touches, nerves scintillate, hairs bristle, breath, fluids, sinews.
The sun, the moon, the night, the light.
Delight in the fight for this life alive.
Fresh face in ice water, wake up from your slumber.
Over hill, through the gale.
Walls dressed in murals, every soul, a song bellowing out.
Time’s ticking, counting numbers.
Dance, sing, splash, paint, swim, run, scream, jump, cry, laugh, hide, love, beware, don’t stop.
Industry roars, technology tunes in, data spreads, plants rip across and beasts foul.
Leaders war, warlords war, in this at least there is unity.
Techno thumps, machines clang and klank, hammers pounding sound their din.
Ceaseless, unstoppable, shifting sands, no sanctuary is safe.
Come out and join hands in the chaos, leave safe mortar and caged roofs.
Get wet, there’s muck up to your neck, taste and touch and all that’s such.
This is the fine fettered symphony we improvise in the dark.
