Jazz pianist, composer and mentor
Welcome! I’m a jazz pianist, composer and teacher. From 2012-2016 I studied on an exciting “New York comes to Groningen” program in the Netherlands where I was able to study with some of the best Dutch musicians and visiting New York Teachers. I’m from London originally, studied philosophy for 3 years in Sheffield, lived in Cornwall for a couple of years and then the Netherlands for 5 years. I also spent a semester in Paris (as part of the Erasmus program) where I had lessons from some of the top musicians from the French scene. I’m now living and working in Bristol.
I’m currently working on various projects with great musicians from Bristol. You can see us playing at jazz and music venues such as The Duke, The Fringe, The Canteen, The Punchbowl, Browns and Pasture etc.
My interests
My main musical interests are in jazz piano, jazz piano trios, improvisation, chamber music, classical music, avant-garde music and free-jazz. I’ve also developed an interest in electronic music and synthesisers in more recent years. I occasionally like to write about philosophy, politics or spirituality and have a fairly wide interest in things like social justice, the environment, eastern and western philosophy, spirituality, community projects, art, films and of course music and jazz.
I’m also becoming increasingly interested in mentoring and encouraging people to be more exploratory, creative and joyful. You can learn more about my mentoring approach here. Mentoring and Sensemaking: Sensemaking Conversations
